Our service targets are people with intellectual disability, autism, Down’s syndrome, cerebral palsy or other multiple disabilities accompanied by intellectual disability.
The mental age of people with mental retardation is below twelve years old. The mental age of those with profound mental retardation is even below three years old.
People with mental retardation make up about 2.2% of the population.
In Taiwan, there are about 500,000 people with mental retardation, which means that mental retardation is an issue faced by 500,000 families. The living problems a mentally retarded person faces include medical treatment, schooling, employment, and continuing care.
